Lincoln has far more places to visit than you might
have first imagined. Top of most people's itinerary is the Cathedral.
A truly inspiring and majestic building, commenced in 1072, but
largely rebuilt in the 12th and 13th Centuries in English Gothic
style.
Sharing the Cathedral's hilltop setting is Lincoln Castle.
Built on the site of the former Roman fortress, this defensive
stronghold has long been the centre of the City's judicial and
penal systems.
Lincoln boasts some fascinating museums. These include the Museum
of Lincolnshire Life, which depicts domestic, social and industrial
life in the County over the past two hundred years, with the
emphasis on authentic room re-creations and hands on activity
days.
At The Lawn (formerly Lincoln's lunatic asylum) visit the Sir
Joseph Banks Tropical Conservatory, the Archaeology Centre,
50 & 61 Squadrons RAF Museum, and the John Dawber Garden.
Browse around the shops or simply relax in the beautiful grounds.
